I have a Dimage G400 that I carry around every day since it is so compact. It has consistently given me fabulous results and out-performed my canon SD 500 in quality. Because of this, I gave the Canon away.

I wanted to upgrade to a digital slr. I also looked at the canon and nikon. I decided on the Maxxum 5D for several reasons: the price, the awesome Minolta quality that has never let me down, the antishake feature, and the fact that I have a Minolta 35mm SLR. I can use those lenses on the digital SLR.

I’ve had the maxxum 5D for about 2 months and haven’t really had the time to go through all of the instructions and features. I constantly take pictures but am by no means an expert. Despite this, my Minoltas deliver such high quality pictures with superb color and clarity. This is especially obvious when I compare pictures taken by other cameras at the same event – no comparison! A common drawback of digitals is the need for a bright room for nice pics. However, the flash is really powerful so I haven’t found it to be a problem yet. So many people give me compliments, even on pictures that were casually shot at the spur of the moment. The shutter speed is so fast that I can really capture the moments.

This camera is really impressive. It attracts a lot of attention even before people see the prints!

Just purchaseed this machine this week.I must say at first i was a little leary from the not so great reviews i read on Amazon. However I did some more research and found many positive reviews elsewhere online so decided to give it a try>
The Saeco Talea Ring is very advanced and offers many settings that you wouldn’t find on the average super automatic machine. It can be pretty tricky to find the right setting for your taste but definatelly possible. After 4 trial expresso’s and maybe 20 min to setup all the settings I had perfectlly brewed coffee with nice rich crema. I did not experience any leaaking or messes mentioned on the other reviews.
My only negative comment if you want to call it that is the machine is a bit pricey however i love my coffee and my beleif is satisfaction justifies the cost.

I purchased this machine about 4 months ago, and it has been nothing but great!

I have never owned a machine like this before, and I had the usual “get over the hump of the learning curve” sorts of problems at first(even though the machine is fairly easy to use), but now I LOVE IT!

Now that I have learned the proper maintenance routine (it is just a simple routine which is very easy once you get used to it), and I have learned the little nuances of the machine programs and the milk foaming sorts of issues that anyone can have (most of the issues with improper milk foaming were only because I wasn’t really keeping it properly cleaned!) it is a wonderful addition to our daily life.

I make Cappuccinnos every morning now without all of the usual crazy routine of trying to steam the milk manually with a steam wand (which is what most machines have attached) and usually getting LOUSY results. Now every morning they are perfect! I can also make my wife a Cappucinno, and make myself a cup of regular coffee every morning without any real hassle. It only takes a few minutes (after I figured out the routine to clean the milk circuit on the machine easily and quickly after the morning Cappuccinnos it made it really easy).

When we have friends over for dinner, it is also very easy to make all sorts of drinks (even a few decafs) to fit every person’s preference. ( and they always turn out perfect!)

Since the machine is progammable, it was easy for me to set it up to our drink taste preferences, and easy to adjust the volumes to make the drinks fit into our favorite size cups for different types of coffee drinks. (my wife has a different type cup for every kind of drink, I think)

Also, I love STRONG coffee, and it makes the best cup of morning coffee I have ever tasted, without all of the fooling around with the “making the pot of coffee in the morning” routine and mess.

It has definately made our lives more enjoyable, and easier every day. And….I bet I have saved a lot of money not buying things at Starbucks on the way to work (not to forget the time and frustration saved by not standing in line at Starbuck’s) since we can make whatever we want every day at home!

Again, I think the money spent was well-spent and will save us enough to make it a real bargain in the long run. This is a well made, quality machine that is easy to learn to use, and easy to get excellent results from in a short amount of time. I would strongly recommend this type of Saeco machine to anyone.

My previous coffeemaker was a Krups that we had for about 3 years. It was hard to program; the carafe was difficult to pour from unless poured really slowly; and the coffee was never the best tasting (sort of weak even at the strong setting).

Our new Cuisinart is easy to program. It brews a great cup of coffee and keeps it hot for long periods of time without the coffee getting bitter tasting. The coffeemaker has it’s own water filter in the water reservoir that adds a level of filtration. The carafe is easy to use and doesn’t drip down the sides no matter how fast or slow you may pour.

The only thing I don’t care for is that the filter basket is not in it’s own compartment, it is in with the water reservoir. I would prefer that it be separate. I haven’t tried the self cleaning feature, but it looks fairly easy to do.

I like the black and stainless steel outside of the unit. It is easy to clean and looks nice on my counter.

Overall, I feel I made a great purchase and look forward to many years of service from this appliance.

I purchased this from Amazon in January and found it makes great espresso for a relatively small and light weight machine. I also have a Sirena which is much sturdier and more expensive but I think that the Gaggia makes a better espresso. I initially gave this product a lower rating because the lights failed to operate after a few uses and I was frustrated because it wasn’t clear how to trouble shoot the machine from the Gaggia website. Thanks to Google, I found the customer support number in the US. They called me back promptly and were very helpful. They were able to resolve the problem with me over the phone with a simple screwdriver in about 5 minutes. They actually knew a lot about the machine and I didn’t need to send it back and wait 5 weeks! Despite the issue with the lights, I think the machine has been well worth it.

Cnet etc is right – that 14mb image takes 4 sec to process – but what fun to have that giant image to crop just the way you like. I’m 5 baby Nikons into my digital photo life and the 710 is far and away my favorite. Gorgeous sensitivity – you can turn off that flash and get the shot, it wakes up in < 1 sec, focuses fast, has a reasonable set of aperture, shutter and manual controls. The program mode is a bit simplified - really just 5 or 6 aperture/shutter combinations - but it's serviceable. I also have a P5000 (for work) and the S710 lacks the P5000's amazing macro capabilities. I suppose this is due to the (very lovely to have) wide angle lens - so minimum focus distance is 10 inches - but again the 14mb comes to the rescue. Shot and crop for a descent close up. And those ugly purple fringes on tree limbs against the sky - they are gone - nice glass on this little one.
Still getting used to handling this small machine which lacks the grips of the P5000 and all the other Nikons I’ve used – so I make sure to slip the strap over the wrist. But small means you carry it always and everywhere – which is the point, no? All this at a nice price.
